"Peanuts" creator, Charles Schulz, passed away last
month, leaving us all with wonderful memories of the
neighborhood and children that lived in his mind. Here
are our thoughts about the characters in the Peanuts
gang, ANSIR® style, based on Profile Boss: |
 |
Charlie Brown - Healer
Good Old Charlie Brown! While he is often the brunt
of Lucy's practial jokes, he always demonstrates a
great faith in people. He is the leader of the
neighborhood and captain of the baseball team. He's
always frustrating himself, to one degree or another,
by not trusting his intuitive gift. He KNOWS Lucy will
jerk the football away, but he rationalizes that she
won't. Trust that intuition, Charlie Brown! |
 |
Lucy - Idealist
This girl is the neighborhood egomaniac and practical
joker. When "The Doctor Is In," Lucy's vastly more
interested in the 5 cents than the troubles of Charlie
Brown or anyone else. When she breaks down, it's usually
because she doesn't get something she wants, like
Schroeder. |
 |
Linus - unconfident Kinsmen
Here is the neighborhood peacemaker and everybody's pal.
He gets past the logical/emotional crisis found in
Kinsmen by refusing to deal with it and cuddling up
with his blanket and thumb. Wanting to believe in
something, he waits each Halloween for the arrival of
that god of gods, The Great Pumpkin. |
 |
Snoopy - Evokateur
More than Charlie Brown's pet, Snoopy steals the show
whenever he appears. And he often does so by retreating
to the world that exists only in his mind: the vulture,
the World War One flying ace, or the great
American writer. |
 |
Woodstock - Scintillator
The little yellow bird leads family and friends on a
constant quest for fun and faces challenges with a
smile. But don't get angry with him, or he'll run away
for awhile. |
 |
Pig-Pen - Sage
The cloud of dust and dirt symbolizes the clutter often
associated with this Ansir style. Poor Pig-Pen plays no
role in the matter. Recall the cartoon where, immediately
upon leaving the bathtub, he is again surrounded by the
cloud. So it is with Sages. |
 |
Schroeder - Eccentrik
We can also see Evokateur in the neighborhood piano
virtuoso, but we believe Eccentrik is boss. He cares not
one lick what anybody else thinks and is always ready to
show that, especially to the flirtatious Lucy. There are
also times when, while playing a masterpiece, he will
suddenly break into something completely different. |
 |
Peppermint Patty - Realist
Down to earth, honest and reliable, you can always tell
where she's coming from. She's the real athlete of the
neighborhood (except in Snoopy's mind) and plays the
good citizen role to the hilt. If you need something,
you can always count on Peppermint Patty. |
 |
Sally - Empath
Charlie Brown's little sister is love personified. She
writes letters habitually and keeps coming back to a
reluctant Linus, despite his protestations that the
love she feels is not and won't ever be reciprocated. |
 |
Marcie - Diligent
The neighborhood bookworm and knowledge hound, Marcie
is always there to lend her brain to any situation. The
classic "A" student, she's a bit out of place with the
rest of the gang, until they need her mind. |
|
The beauty of Peanuts, from our perspective, is that
Schulz was able to create a set of characters with
completely different personalities. Therein is the
series' conflict and therein is its charm.
